Can You Get Free Web Hosting? An Expert's Guide

Are you looking for a free website hosting service? With so many options available, it can be difficult to know which one is the best. Google Cloud hosting, Wix, Hostinger, Infinityfree, Byethost, 000webhost, Googiehost, and FreeWebHostingArea are some of the most popular free web hosting providers. But which one should you choose? In this article, we'll explore the features of each provider and help you decide which one is right for you. Google Cloud hosting offers a wide variety of free website hosting solutions for small businesses and students.

It comes with all the powerful features you can expect from a first-class company like Google. Since their plans are based on pay-as-you-go, it's an easy place for students to start. Alternatively, you can opt for a comprehensive solution. Wix is a good option for a quick start, as it encompasses both hosting and the website builder in one place. Although there's a free plan, you can try any premium plan that offers 14 days of money back.

But be careful, as we found that out of a list of 18 free website providers that we compiled, only eight of them (less than half) delivered the full hosting package you'll need for your site, and only six are on our list of the best free website hosting services. That's why Hostinger's exclusive offer for TechRadar readers is as attractive as a suitable shared hosting service that becomes free with an exclusive refund. Our advice would be to stay away from free website hosting services entirely, since it's not a good option for most, except for Hostinger's. Choosing the best cheap web hosting services may be a better option if you're on a budget. However, if you still want to continue with a free website hosting service, scroll down to see the list we've made of the best on the market.

Hostinger

Hostinger is one of the biggest brands when it comes to web hosting, with millions of websites hosted on its server.

Our latest exclusive offer represents a big leap compared to what you normally get in the world of free web hosting providers. You get 30 GB of fast SSD storage with 100 GB of monthly bandwidth, strong DNS management, name servers protected by Cloudflare, plus full support (24 x 7 x 36) and an uptime guarantee (99.9%), something unheard of at this price. In the world of free web hosting, Infinityfree stands out for good reason, which is why it ranks first on our list of the best free website hostings. It has a well-designed website that makes a positive impression and meets the requirements for us. Your home page gets a C performance rating in our load time test, but other than that, it looks pretty solid.

Infinityfree has been in business for more than six years, claims to have more than 400,000 users and offers unlimited disk space and bandwidth (albeit with a generous 50,000 daily views). You can host as many domains as you want, but you'll only have 10 email accounts and an FTP to upload your content. There are no hidden fees and, despite its free status, you'll get a 99.9% uptime guarantee (although that said, you'll be more or less alone if your site goes down) and the popular Softaculous Script installer with more than 400 applications. We were surprised to see that this provider's list of features includes 400 MySQL databases (while others offer only a few, if any), a free DNS service, free SSL and free CDN from Cloudflare. That's impressive for a free offer.

Byethost

Byethost is part of Byet Internet, an American provider of hosting services, domain names and resellers.

With more than a million websites hosted, Byethost claims that its free hosting service is one of the most powerful networks in the world dedicated exclusively to free hosting. In addition, if you're ever interested in becoming a free website hosting provider, Byethost operates an independent entity called myownfreehost which allows you to do just that.

000webhost

With 000Webhost, you'll get cPanel, a website builder and an automatic WordPress installer plus an added bonus is that there are no ads. However bandwidth and especially disk space are low with 3 GB of bandwidth and only 300 MB of disk space.

Googiehost

You could easily confuse Googiehost with Googlehost - a blatant way to attract attention - but the eight-year-old Googiehost is still one of the best options in a not very good group of free website hosting providers. Creating a new account is simple but we were a little concerned that the account's emails would reach our spam folder directly - a sign that some sites hosted by FreeHostingNoads might be on a reject list.

FreeWebHostingArea

FreeWebHostingArea may have the design of a 1999 website but it's another option if you want a free website hosting company that can give you unlimited bandwidth (or at least that's what the provider claims). In addition it offers more generous storage capacity than most giving you 1.5 GB of web space in addition to three MySQL databases again outperforming most competing free website hosting providers. The control panel is rudimentary and at the time of writing this article the site creator and automatic installer were not working properly leaving any user the task of uploading their files via FTP if they wanted to create their own websites. The maximum file size allowed in FreeWebHostingArea is 12 MB. In conclusion there are many options when it comes to finding free web hosting services but not all are created equal.

Hostinger stands out from its competitors due to its generous features such as 30 GB SSD storage with 100 GB monthly bandwidth plus strong DNS management name servers protected by Cloudflare plus full support 24 x 7 x 36 and an uptime guarantee 99 9%. Infinityfree also stands out due to its well designed website plus unlimited disk space and bandwidth albeit with 50 000 daily views plus 400 MySQL databases while Googiehost offers cPanel plus Cloudflare albeit in their free form. Ultimately choosing between these providers will depend on your individual needs so make sure to do your research before making your decision.
